The 12th Bangladesh Premier League players’ auction will take place on 30 November 2025 at 4pm BST at the Grand Ballroom of the Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka, marking the first time in nearly 12 years that the tournament has used an auction format.
The BPL described the occasion as “one of its most exciting moments in over a decade”, as franchises prepare to move away from the long standing draft system. The league last held an auction during its first two seasons, a period that organisers say fans “have not seen since the early days of the competition”.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed that the full event will be broadcast live on T Sports and streamed on its YouTube channel, while media outlets will receive photos and video highlights throughout the day.
Franchises are expected to adjust their roster building strategies as the auction format encourages more competitive bidding and varied team combinations. Each team can register up to 22 players, including reserves, and must field at least two overseas players but no more than four in any playing XI. Teams may also list up to 12 support staff members.
With anticipation building among owners, players and supporters, the BPL believes the shift in format will “open the door for more competitive bidding and team combinations”, setting the stage for a pivotal moment in the league’s modern era.
