Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the government has implemented a major reshuffle in the administration. Following the changes in District Commissioners (DC), changes have now been made to the posts of Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO).
On Wednesday, in the first phase, the Ministry of Public Administration issued notifications for the posting of officers with the rank of Senior Assistant Secretary as new UNOs in 166 upazilas across the country.
Eight separate notifications mentioned that the officers appointed as Upazila Nirbahi Officers have been granted the power of Executive Magistrate.
For this purpose, they have been vested with the powers of Section 144 of “The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898”.
The new UNOs have been instructed to join their new workplaces by 30 November. If they fail to join within the stipulated time, they will be considered immediately released (stand release) from their current posts from the afternoon of that day.
Furthermore, the notification stated that if the office or workplace of a transferred officer has already been changed, they can submit their joining letter mentioning the name and address of their current office.
