In a major administrative reshuffle, the government has cancelled the contractual appointments of nine secretaries across various ministries.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued nine separate notifications on Monday to this effect.
According to the notifications, the remaining terms of the contracts for these officials have been terminated in accordance with their respective agreements with the government.
The nine officials whose appointments were cancelled are: Saidur Rahman, secretary of the Health Services Division; Shish Haider Chowdhury, secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division; Siddique Zobair, director general of the National Academy for Planning and Development; Mohammad Yusuf, senior secretary of the Land Appeal Board; Momtaz Ahmed, senior secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs; Mokhlesur Rahman, member (senior secretary) of the Planning Commission; MA Akmal Hossain Azad, member (senior secretary) of the Planning Commission; Sharifa Khan, alternative executive director of the World Bank; and Kaiyum Ara Begum, member of the Planning Commission.
In a separate move, three other secretaries have been removed from their current posts and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as part of the ongoing administrative restructuring.
The Senior Appointment-1 branch of the Ministry of Public Administration issued three separate notifications on Monday regarding these changes.
The officials attached to the ministry are Md Saifullah Panna, secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office; Rehana Pervin, secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division; and Md Kamal Uddin, secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The orders, issued by command of the President, were signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, deputy secretary of the Senior Appointment-1 branch of the Ministry of Public Administration.
