Fifty-two women seeking BNP nomination for reserved seats in Parliament collected their nomination forms on first day of the process.

They collected forms from Assistant Returning Officer for reserved women’s seat elections Md Monir Hossain at the Election Building in the capital’s Agargaon on Thursday.

The aspirants who collected forms include – Mst Monira Banu, Mosammat Shahneaz Chowdhury, Adv. Farida Akter, Momtaz Akter, Farzana Rashid Laboni, Mst Nilufa Yasmin Khan, Mst Sayema Khatun, Tahmina Begum Ripa, Rokeya Chowdhury Baby, Mst Shakila Farhad Banu, Kazi Nazia Haque, Mst Jinat Ara Afu, Kazi Maryam Begum, Hafeza Ferdous Limon, Tahmina Khan, Rubina Akter Ruba, Shamima Rahim, Munmun Talukdar, Advocate Tahmina Akter Hashemy, Tahsin Sharmin Tamanna, Rehena Parvin, Fouzia Safdar Soheli, Khaleda Yasmin, Mst Afsana Mimi, Sansila Jebrin, Irene Mahbub, Sanjana Chaiti Poppy, Shahana Sultana, Selina Afroz, Dr Nasima Talukdar, Nasima Akter, Kawsar Jahan Farida, Raihan Rahman Helen, Lovely, Jesmina Khanam, Mst Farida Yasmin (Dera), Momtaz Begum (Nayan), Begum Razia Alam, Selina Parvin, Habiba Akter Papia, Advocate Ayesha Akter Sanji, Sayma Ahmed, Mosammat Shahinur Begum (Sagor), Mahmuda Akter, Dr Nasima Islam Chowdhury Drishti, Jinnatun Nesa Jinu, Samira Azim, Mosammat Sultana Begum (Akhi Sultana), Khadiza Begum, Mahmuda Sultana, Mahmuda Sultana Chy (Jhorna), and Nilufar Chowdhury Moni.

On 8 April, the Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule for reserved women’s seat elections. According to the declared schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is 21 April. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on 22 and 23 April.

Appeals against the scrutiny decisions will be accepted on 26 April and resolved on 27 and 28 April. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 29 April, with symbols to be allocated on 30 April. Voting for the reserved seats is scheduled to be held on 12 May.
