A fire at the Madanganj PGCB power plant in Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj has completely gutted a 132-watt capacity transformer. The incident resulted in a four-hour blackout across the entire Bandar Upazila.
Although power office personnel and two units of the Fire Service arrived at the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control within 30 minutes, the 132-watt capacity transformer was destroyed.
Consequently, electricity supply remained suspended throughout the whole of Bandar Upazila. Officials stated that power would be supplied on a limited scale during the night by sourcing electricity from the Sonargaon plant.
