Four people have died from suspected measles in the past 24 hours across the country, while more than 1,000 new cases have been reported during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deaths were reported from Dhaka, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions, with one fatality in each division, the DGHS central control room said in its latest health bulletin.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,052 new suspected measles cases were recorded across the country, while 75 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing. In addition, 973 patients were admitted to hospitals, and 989 others recovered and were discharged.
According to the DGHS, no deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported in the past 24 hours.
Since 15 March, a total of 85,951 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide, of which 10,323 have been confirmed.
Over the same period, 560 deaths have been recorded among suspected cases, while 92 deaths have been confirmed as measles-related based on laboratory testing.
Health authorities also said that 70,579 suspected patients have been admitted to hospitals in the past three months, with 66,841 recovering and returning home.
Division-wise data shows that Dhaka Division has reported the highest number of suspected cases, with 39,898 infections so far, including 7,117 confirmed cases.
Chattogram Division ranks second with 14,345 suspected cases reported to date.
