A total of 35 candidates will contest from five constituencies in Chandpur in the 13th national election after the withdrawal of nominations.
BNP has fielded a single candidate in all five constituencies. Jamaat-e-Islami has single candidates in three constituencies, while in the remaining two constituencies, candidates from the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will contest on behalf of the 10-party alliance.
The information was confirmed on Tuesday, the final day for withdrawal, by the office of the district’s returning officer.
In Chandpur-1 (Kachua), the contesting candidates are BNP-nominated ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Jamaat’s Abu Nasr Mohammad Mokbul Ahmed, Jatiya Party’s Habib Khan, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Md Enayet Hossain, Bangladesh Islami Front’s Mohammad Nasir Uddin, and Gono Forum’s Mohammad Azad Hossain.
In Chandpur-2 (Matlab North and Matlab South), the candidates are BNP-nominated Md Jalal Uddin, 10-party alliance (LDP) candidate Md Billal Hossain, Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s Mansur, Jatiya Party’s Md Emran Hossain Mia, Bangladesh Republican Party’s Md Fayzunnur, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Md Golap Hossain, Bangladesh Labour Party’s Nasima Naznin Sarkar, and Nagorik Oikya’s Md Enamul Haque.
In Chandpur-3 (Sadar–Haimchar), BNP-nominated Sheikh Farid Ahmed will face Jamaat nominee Md Shahjahan Mia, Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s Md Zainal Abedin Sheikh, Gono Forum’s Selim Akbar, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Md Zakir Hossain, Bangladesh Islami Front’s AHM Ahsan Ullah, and Bangladesh Communist Party’s Md Jahangir Hossain.
In Chandpur-4 (Faridganj), the candidates are BNP-nominated Md Harunur Rashid, Jamaat nominee Md Billal Hossain Miajhi, Jatiya Party’s Mahmud Alam, Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s Mokbul Hossain, independent candidate MA Hannan, Gono Forum’s Md Munir Chowdhury, Bangladesh Islami Front’s Abdul Malek Bulbul, and independent candidate Zakir Hossain.
In Chandpur-5 (Hajiganj–Shahrasti), the contestants are BNP-nominated Md Mominul Haque, 10-party alliance (LDP) candidate Md Neyamul Bashir, Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s Mohammad Ali Patwari, Jatiya Party’s Mirza Gias Uddin, Islamic Front Bangladesh’s Syed Bahadur Shah Mujaddedi, and Insaniyat Biplob Bangladesh’s Md Mahmud Hasan Nayan.
