The 30th BCS (Police) Service Association has formed a new executive committee after a hiatus of 12 years.
Md Zahidul Islam, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been elected as president, while SM Mizanur Rahman, also an additional deputy commissioner at DMP, has taken the role of general secretary.
The committee was formed during a meeting held at the VIP Meeting Room of the Police Officers’ Mess in Dhaka.
According to a press release from the association, the previous committee was dissolved upon the expiry of its term, and the new leadership was selected through a unanimous consensus among the members present both in person and online.
Executive leadership
The new committee includes Rafiuddin Mohammad Jobayer, PPM (ADC, DMP) as Senior Vice-President.
The elected Vice-Presidents are Ahammad Ali (ADC, DMP), Md Jasim Uddin (additional superintendent of police, Police Headquarters), Azmila Nasrin Chowdhury (Addl SP, Police Headquarters), Md Rokonuzzaman Sarkar (ADC, DMP), and Arafatul Islam (Addl SP, Dhaka District).
Tasmin Akter (Addl SP, Narayanganj District) has been elected as Senior Joint General Secretary. The Joint General Secretaries include Hasibul Islam (Addl SP, Police Headquarters), Md Tarikul Islam (Addl SP, Dhaka District), Mohammad Aftab Uddin (Addl SP, River Police), Bhaskar Saha, PPM (Addl SP, RAB-9, Sylhet), and Mashiur Rahman Mondal (Addl SP, Pabna District).
(ADC, DMP) has been appointed as Organising Secretary. He will be supported by Assistant Organising Secretaries Yasir Arafat (Addl SP, Police Headquarters), Yasina Ferdous (ADC, DMP), Md Kazi Humayun Rashid (Addl SP, Munshiganj District), and Md Abu Khayer (Addl SP, Gazipur District).
Furthermore, Md Sajjad Hossain (ADC, DMP) has been elected as Treasurer (Finance Secretary), and Md Zakirul Hasan (Addl SP, Special Branch) will serve as Office Secretary.
Commitment to Service and Reform Upon his election, President Md Zahidul Islam stated that the committee’s objective is to play a sincere role in establishing a just society. He emphasised that the leadership would uphold the spirit of patriotism to maintain law and order.
General Secretary SM Mizanur Rahman expressed a firm commitment to transforming the Bangladesh Police into a “safe haven” for the public. He added that the committee would focus on both public service and the overall welfare of police members.
Senior Joint General Secretary Tasmin Akter highlighted the opportunity to build a people-friendly police force in the vision of a “New Bangladesh.”
Organising Secretary Fazlul Karim added that he intends to use his skills to contribute to justice and the welfare of police members to help build a self-reliant Bangladesh.
