Senior journalists Zahidul Islam Roni, Mostafa Zulfikar Hasan, and Md Suzauddoula have been appointed as Deputy Press Secretaries to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The appointments were announced on Monday through separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.
Zahidul Islam Roni, a member of the National Press Club managing committee, joins the Prime Minister’s office in a contract-based Grade-4 position.
Mostafa Zulfikar Hasan, Deputy Head of News at Ekattor TV, and Md Suzauddoula have also been appointed to the same post under similar terms.
The notifications, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Golam Robbani, were issued following the President’s order.
The appointments require the appointees to relinquish any other professional or business commitments with government, semi-government, or private organisations.
Their tenure will last for the Prime Minister’s term or until his satisfaction, whichever comes first.
On the same day, SAM Mahfuzur Rahman, editor of UNB news agency, was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Speech Writer at Grade-1.
Earlier, senior journalist Saleh Shibli was appointed Press Secretary, and Atikur Rahman Rumon as Additional Press Secretary.
