As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, a massive bull named ‘Raja Babu’, weighing approximately 26 maunds, has become a major attraction in Kushtia.
Owned by Md Motaleb Hossain Mondal of Kamalapur Lakshmipur village in Jiarokhi union under Kushtia Sadar upazila, the three-year-old bull is being priced at Tk8 lakh.
The white-and-black animal, which currently has four teeth, has been drawing daily crowds of visitors from distant areas.
Motaleb and his wife have reared ‘Raja Babu’ for three years, treating the animal like their own child.
The owner emphasised that the bull has been raised using purely natural methods, including a diet of wheat, chickpeas, rice powder, potatoes, grass, straw, and bran.
No medicine or injections were used in the rearing process. Currently, the daily expenditure for bull’s feed is approximately Tk1,000.
Regarding the sale, Motaleb mentioned that while traders have offered up to Tk6 lakh, he is firm on his asking price of Tk8 lakh. Due to his current illness, he has been unable to take the bull to the market.

The district’s livestock sector is buzzing, with approximately 19,000 marginal farmers in Kushtia preparing nearly 2 lakh cattle for the upcoming Eid market.
Expressing concern over the rising costs of cattle feed, Motaleb urged the government to ensure that no cattle are imported from India this year, which would allow local farmers to remain profitable.
