Two workers were killed and two others injured when soil caved in during excavation work in Chattogram early Thursday.
The accident occurred around 4:45am on Agrabad B‑4 Access Road under Halishahar Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Rakib and Tushar, 22, from Dinajpur. The injured were Sagar and Ershad, whose full details were not immediately available.
Halishahar Police Station’s officer‑in‑charge Kazi Muhammad Sultan Ahsan Uddin said inquiries were underway and necessary measures would be taken.
Witnesses said four workers were buried when the ground suddenly collapsed during excavation for a foreign company’s construction project.
Locals rescued them and rushed them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared two dead. The injured were admitted to the casualty ward.
Family members of the victims arrived at the hospital, while discussions were ongoing.
