Three officials, including the centre secretary, have been relieved of their duties after 100 students in Habiganj sat for their Dakhil examination using incorrect question papers.
Habiganj Additional District Commissioner (Education and ICT) Papia Akter confirmed the matter on Wednesday. The officials are Md Faruq Mia, centre secretary of the Habiganj Girls’ High School Dakhil examination centre, Md Khairuddin, hall superintendent, and Mizanur Rahman, check officer.
ADC Papia said the Controller of Examinations had been contacted. The 100 scripts will be evaluated separately, and the students will not be harmed. Due to negligence of duty, the officials have been relieved. They will not perform duties in the subsequent examinations.
The incident occurred on Tuesday during the first day of the Dakhil examination for the Quran Majid subject. While the “Jamuna-1” set was scheduled to be used nationwide, 100 examinees in one room of the centre were mistakenly provided with the “Meghna-1” set questions. Out of 624 registered candidates at the centre, 608 participated in the exam.
The error was discovered after the students had left the premises. Upon receiving the news, ADC Papia visited the centre, collected the scripts, and transferred them to the District Commissioner’s office.
Centre Secretary Faruq said the hall superintendent and check officer were instructed to distribute the question papers with caution. Nevertheless, a mistake occurred.
