Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle on the Malibagh–Mouchak flyover in Dhaka early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Nayan Talukdar, 70, the auto-rickshaw driver, and Yasin Arafat Ashik, 21, the motorcycle rider.
According to police, Nayan Talukdar was from Kalihati upazila in Tangail and had been living in Dhaka’s Jatrabari. Yasin lived in South Mugda and was the son of Ibrahim Babu. He passed his HSC examination from City College in 2025.
Both were rescued in critical condition and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead, said Ramna Police Station Sub-inspector (SI) Sushanta Kumar Khan.
The accident occurred at 4:45am at the Mouchak section of the flyover, he added.
Police said the bodies have been kept at the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy, and further legal procedures are underway.
