Jatrabari police arrested 17 people allegedly involved in various crimes during a special drive in the capital’s Jatrabari area on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Khalid Hasan Siam, 22; Md Rifat alias Abir, 25; Kusum Akter, 27; Md Mosharraf Mia alias Mostakim, 20; Samia Akter Zarina, 18; Kajal Akter Ankhi, 22; Abu Yusuf, 70; Zahidul Islam Zahid, 53; Abul Hossain, 67; Riaz Sheikh alias Sajib, 24; Rahatul Islam, 19; Md Robin, 42; Md Abdur Rahim, 47; Md Moniruzzaman; Sohan, 19; Md Russell, 26; and Syed Abuzar Hossain.
Police said those arrested included suspects in regular cases and people allegedly involved in other criminal activities.
Such drives will continue to maintain law and order in the area, police added.
Legal proceedings against the arrestees are under way.
