A youth named Shahin, 30, was shot by miscreants in the city’s Jurain area on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:15pm on the road in front of Dolphin School near Jurain Chairman Bari area. He has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
Pedestrians Rahatul Islam Hira and Md Khorshed Alam, who rescued him and brought him to the hospital, stated that the man was found lying on the road in front of Jurain Dolphin Pre-Cadet and High School in the evening.
Shahin was bleeding profusely from his head. They, along with several other pedestrians, then took the youth to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
Meanwhile, upon hearing about the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Naim Ahmed of Kadamtoli Police Station visited the hospital.
The policeman said, “While on duty in the area, I received a tip off about a shooting in Jurain. The injured person was brought to DMCH. I visited the injured man in the hospital. But I did not have the chance to visit the crime scene yet.”
Ahmed then added, “From what I have gathered initially, a shooting had occurred among drug traders. The youth might have been injured after getting caught in the crossfire. We will be able to provide more details about the incident later.”
No further details about the injured youth, other than his name, is known yet.
