Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish chief Mamunul Haque on Saturday said the era of “Golden Bangladesh, New Bangladesh and Digital Bangladesh” has ended, declaring that “it is now time to see the Bangladesh of Islam.”
Speaking as the chief guest, Mamunul made the remarks while addressing the annual gathering of Al Jamiatul Islamia Wa Darul Yatama in Chattogram.
Mamunul termed those who vote “no” in the referendum “allies of fascism.” Referring to the 2013 Shapla Chattar operation, he alleged that a female MP of the then government “mocked the deaths,” claiming that despite bloodshed at the time, it was said that the bodies “were lying soaked in colour.”
In his speech, he described adversities faced by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the trials endured by the Sahaba (companions), saying the Prophet “never bowed before obstacles” and the Sahaba “did not retreat in the face of severe trials.” He said Muslims must follow the same path of perseverance.
Referring to the Liberation War of 1971, Mamunul Haque said “the oppressors are defeated and the oppressed are victorious,” and alleged that “Delhi’s hegemony” was imposed on Bangladesh in 1972. He claimed the youth of 2024 had “overthrown that hegemony with blood.”
Accusing some of engaging in anti-Islamic activities, he said those who try to harm Muslims face a “declaration of jihad,” adding, “We must continue fighting until the last moment of life.”
He also hinted that certain individuals have “gone astray” due to what he described as attitudes opposing the Qur’an. Mamunul Haque termed the “July Charter” a document of the “Prophet-loving activists of Shapla Chattar,” describing it as a “charter to overthrow Delhi.”
