Police have recovered the decomposed body of a woman, identified as Golapi Begum ,35, with her legs tied, three days after she went missing in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail.
The body was found floating in the Barokhali canal near Mirzapur Police Station on Sunday morning.
Golapi, a mother of three, was a resident of Bawar road under Mirzapur municipality and the wife of Abdul Kader Mia of Postkamuri Dakshin Para.
According to family members, Golapi left home three days ago and never returned. On Sunday morning, locals spotted a body floating in the canal beside the police station and informed the police.
Responding to the call, police recovered the half-decomposed body, which was found with its legs tied using a GI wire.
Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rashedul Islam said, “Golapi Begum had been missing for three days after leaving home, according to her family. Her husband identified the body based on her clothing. Legal action will be taken following an investigation.”
