A 34-year-old woman has died after a bus hit the auto-rickshaw she was riding in at Sayedabad Rail Gate in the capital on Monday evening.

The accident took place around 7pm. The woman, Taslima Akhter, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead at 7:15pm, according to Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp.

The victim’s brother-in-law, Md Nadim, said Taslima was returning to South Sayedabad from her father’s house in Banshal by auto-rickshaw when a bus of Tisha Paribahan hit the three-wheeler from behind, crushing it.

Taslima and the auto-rickshaw driver sustained severe injuries. Bystanders took the driver to a local hospital, while family members rushed Taslima to DMCH.

Her body is currently being kept at the hospital morgue, police said.
