Before the cameras roll, the biggest suspense surrounding Shakib Khan’s next film isn’t the story—it’s the heroine. One film, two strong contenders and one unanswered question — who will become Shakib Khan’s next leading lady?
With the Dhallywood superstar officially signing his next project with Real Energy Production, the spotlight has shifted from the film itself to the actress who will share the screen with the country’s biggest box-office star.
Shakib signed the film on Thursday, reuniting with director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, the filmmaker behind Borbaad. Announcing the collaboration on his verified Facebook page, he posted a group photograph with the caption: “Borbaad team is back… Let’s create history again.”
Director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy confirmed the new project but said neither the title nor the remaining cast had been finalised.
That has only fuelled speculation.
Two names are leading the race. One is Tollywood actor Idhika Pal, whose chemistry with Shakib has already produced two blockbuster hits. The other is Sabila Nur, who has also shared successful screen space with the superstar in recent releases.
According to industry sources, Real Energy Production chief Shahreen Akter Sumi is keen to cast Idhika Pal. Those close to the production say her professionalism has impressed the producer, while her previous collaborations with Shakib in Priyotoma and Borbaad have already proved their commercial appeal.
The director, however, is believed to favour Sabila Nur.
Despite growing speculation, neither side is revealing its final choice. Asked about the casting, Mehedi Hasan Hridoy simply said, “We’ll reveal everything at the right time. Please wait a few more days.”
Both actresses have strong credentials.
Idhika made her film debut opposite Shakib in Himel Ashraf’s blockbuster Priyotoma, where the pair quickly became a fan favourite. They reunited in Hridoy’s Borbaad, released during Eid-ul-Fitr last year, which also enjoyed impressive box-office success.
Sabila Nur has also worked with Shakib twice. She first starred opposite him in Raihan Rafi’s Tandob before returning as his co-star in Azman Russho’s Rockstar, released during Eid-ul-Azha this year.
For now, the production team is keeping its biggest casting card close to its chest. Whether the makers choose the proven blockbuster chemistry of Idhika Pal or place their faith in Sabila Nur, one decision is certain to shape the conversation long before the cameras begin rolling.
