National University Vice-Chancellor ASM Amanullah visited Cox’s Bazar City College on Wednesday morning and reviewed various aspects of the college’s academic activities, including its teachers and students.
After the visit, the VC held a meeting with the college teachers, reads a press release.
He stressed the importance of helping students develop diverse skills at the meeting.
He also instructed the college authorities to establish a language club and plant 12,000 trees with the participation of students.
Amanullah said National University would bring its affiliated colleges under large-scale greening initiatives to protect the environment and maintain climate balance for future generations.
In line with government plans, tree plantation and environment-friendly activities would be strengthened at the colleges, he said.
Noting that National University is rapidly moving towards a cashless and paperless system, he said work was underway to make student services easier, faster and more transparent through technology-based administration and education management.
Highlighting the university’s recent progress in reducing session backlogs, the VC said examination results were now being published within just 27 working days.
He described the achievement as a major milestone in the history of National University and praised the teachers and officials involved in conducting examinations for a large number of students and publishing results on time.
He thanked all concerned for successfully carrying out the huge responsibility of managing examination activities for around 6.5 million students.
Amanullah said changes were being made to National University’s academic programmes to create opportunities for students to acquire relevant skills.
The curriculum was being revised in line with changing needs, while initiatives had also been taken to introduce various skills-based courses considering students’ careers and future requirements, he said.
Director of National University’s Department of Physical Education and Culture Mohammad Shafiul Karim, along with teachers and students of the college, attended the meeting chaired by Cox’s Bazar City College Principal SM Akhtar Uddin Chowdhury.
