Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury stated that the primary objective of the current government is to eliminate internal disunity and divisions within society to foster a sense of national unity.
“We want to stand tall as a unified nation,” he declared.
The Minister made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly formed committee of the Bangladesh Lawyers’ Alliance, held on Monday at the Dhaka Club in the capital.
He further emphasised that the administration, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is committed to the goal of building a unified nation.
The minister noted that for a prolonged period, the country was denied the opportunity to hold elections, preventing citizens from exercising their right to franchise. He added that the BNP eventually formed the government following the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Zainul Abedin, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Special Parliamentary Committee, attended the event as the keynote speaker. The programme was presided over by Jabedul Islam Jabed, the newly appointed President of the host organisation, and moderated by its General Secretary, Husne Mubarak Rocky.
Other notable speakers at the ceremony included Barrister A.M. Mahbub Uddin Khokan, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association; Barrister Bodruddoza Badal, BNP Law Affairs Secretary; and Mohammad Ali, the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum’s secretary candidate for the Supreme Court Bar Association elections.
The proceedings concluded with the formal introduction of the 27-member committee of the Bangladesh Lawyers’ Alliance for the upcoming one-year term, led by Jabedul Islam Jabed and Husne Mubarak Rocky.
