A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted a fresh three-day remand for two personal staff members of Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The accused – Tarique Siddique’s driver Md Mohidul Islam and house caretaker Md Chan Mia – were produced before the court as police sought seven days of remand for each.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam after hearing the plea approved a three-day remand for both.
The duo had previously been remanded multiple times in connection with the killing of trader Abdul Wadud during the July mass uprising.
Most recently, on 1 May, another Dhaka court, presided over by Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi, placed them on a four-day remand in the same Anti-Terrorism Act case.
Law enforcement officials arrested Mohidul from Thakurgaon and Chan Mia from the Bhashantek area of the capital on 19 April.
According to the case statement, the charges stem from a flash procession reportedly carried out on 12 September, 2025, in front of Rupayan Tower in Bangla Motor area.
The procession, allegedly led by activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and the Awami League, included slogans described by authorities as anti-government and anti-state, prompting police to file the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
