Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC unveiled an Argentina national football team fan jersey in Dhaka on Monday, marking a first for a Bangladeshi brand and highlighting its strategic sporting partnership with the Argentine Football Association.
Argentina’s Ambassador to Dhaka Marcelo Carlos Cesa, attending as chief guest at the “Argentina Fan Jersey Unveiling Ceremony” at the Walton corporate office, described the sponsorship as recognition of Bangladesh’s industrial progress and the ethos of both nations’ sporting aspirations. He said the alliance was not just about branding but about inspiring youth through shared values of skill and teamwork.
Walton, which exports electronics to more than 50 countries and has rapidly grown its global footprint, is the official regional sponsor of the reigning world champion Argentina team. It holds all regional branding rights under its agreement with the AFA, and has featured stars including Lionel Messi and Emiliano Martinez in its promotional activities.
Walton Chairman S M Shamsul Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam and Director Sabiha J Orona were present at the ceremony. Addressing attendees, Walton’s managing director noted the deep passion for Argentina’s football among millions of Bangladeshi fans and said the country’s streets fill with sky-blue and white during World Cups.
Walton said it plans nationwide football tournaments during the 2026 FIFA World Cup across its offices, factories and distribution networks to further engage fans. The event was moderated by Walton’s business coordinator to the managing director, Tanvir Anjum, with the chief marketing officer Zoheb Ahmed delivering the welcome address.
