The Vietnamese Ambassador in Dhaka Nguyen Manh Cuong has pledged to continue working closely with Bangladeshi partners, describing the Embassy as a bridge connecting the people of the two nations on Sunday.
Marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s independence, the envoy recalled the autumn of 1945 in Hanoi, when the historic struggle for freedom ignited a nationwide dream of sovereignty and self-determination.
Over the past eight decades, he noted, Vietnam has advanced under the leadership of the Communist Party, with the steadfast support of international partners. The country has consistently defended its independence, unity, and territorial integrity while striving to ensure the well-being and happiness of its people.
Vietnam now maintains diplomatic ties with 194 countries and has established cooperation frameworks with 38 major partners, including neighbours, global powers, and long-standing allies.
The envoy highlighted Vietnam’s active role in international platforms, including ASEAN, APEC, WTO and the United Nations, where it contributes to regional and global initiatives.
On behalf of the Vietnamese government, the ambassador extended gratitude to the international community and organisations that have supported Vietnam both during its struggle for independence and in its ongoing efforts to strengthen and safeguard the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
