Uttara University has concluded its week-long inter-departmental sports competition, VC Sports Week 2026, featuring 540 student-athletes competing across six categories.
The competition, organised by the Uttara University Sports Club under the Office of Student Affairs, ran from 27 July to 3 August and included cricket, football, badminton, chess, carrom and table tennis, said a press release on Sunday.
Vice-Chancellor Eaysmin Ara Lekha attended the closing ceremony and distributed trophies, medals and certificates to champions, runners-up and top individual performers.
“Sports is not just about winning or losing on the field; it teaches discipline, leadership, resilience and mutual respect among our students,” the VC said.
“Going beyond textbooks and classrooms, achieving physical fitness and mental growth is what shapes a student into a responsible citizen for the future. The spirit with which every student participated and competed with honesty in this event is our biggest success.”
The programme also featured a cultural evening with musical performances by students and live concerts by youth bands Encore and Eden’s Garden.
Deans, department heads, faculty members, administrative staff and students attended the ceremony.
