Singer Agun, known for his distinctive voice, became a favourite among Bangladeshi music lovers in the 1990s.
His voice remains particularly memorable in several popular songs from films starring the late actor Salman Shah.
However, Agun has not been regularly involved in film music for several years. His last film song was recorded for Shatru in 2021.
After a break of nearly five years, the singer has now returned to the big screen with a new song.
Agun recently lent his voice to the title track of filmmaker Mostafizur Rahman Babu’s upcoming film Shopner Nayika.
The song was written by Nishat Tasnim and Sarwar Hossain, while Anwar Shikder Titon composed and arranged the music.
Agun is joined by singer Tanjina Ruma for the duet.
Speaking about the song, music director Anwar Shikder Titon said, “Agun is one of the singers who represents the golden era of Bangladeshi cinema. I had him in mind from the beginning. After completing the composition and arrangement, I sent him the song. He liked it and recorded it with great enthusiasm.”
Agun made his debut in film music with the songs of Keyamat Theke Keyamat, starring Salman Shah and Moushumi.
He immediately caught the audience’s attention with his voice and went on to record songs for numerous popular films.
His notable film songs include those from Dola, Tumi Amar, Antore Antore, Bikkhov, Denmohor, Asha Bhalobasha, Mayer Odhikar, Jibon Shongshar, Shopner Prithibi, Shotter Mrittu Nei, Ei Ghor Ei Shongshar, Chawa Theke Pawa, Bichar Hobe, Prem Piyasi, Ammajan, Madam Fuli, Dui Duari, Hason Raja, 1 Takar Bou and Amar Ache Jol, among many others.
