Pori Moni turned her birthday celebration into a moment of professional excitement, revealing her upcoming film ‘Farzana’ during an intimate gathering with friends and journalists in Dhaka.
The actress celebrated her birthday on 24 October at a restaurant near Moijuddin Chattar in Purbachal. She named this year’s event ‘Shiuli Shondhya’, inspired by her affection for the shiuli flower. But the evening brought more than a birthday celebration, as guests also got their first glimpse of her new film.
Directed by television drama-maker Tarek Rahman, ‘Farzana’ has already gone into production. The director has written both the story and screenplay. Raju Raj is handling cinematography, while Turan Munshi serves as executive producer.
The film’s first-look visuals were unveiled during the birthday event, surprising guests and prompting them to encourage Pori Moni in her new role.
Speaking about the occasion, the actress said she wanted to spend a beautiful moment with the people closest to her while celebrating life and cherishing memories.
“This birthday is not just a birthday. It is an invitation to spend a beautiful moment surrounded by love for memories, gratitude for life and the company of loved ones. I was able to see the faces of so many people dear to me, which made me truly excited and happy,” she said.
Explaining why she chose to announce the film at the event, Pori Moni said she has always wanted to share her happiness with others.
“I have always wanted to share my happiness and joyful moments with everyone because that makes them even greater. That is why I came to ‘Shiuli Shondhya’ to share the news of ‘Farzana’,” she said.
The actress is optimistic about the project and particularly drawn to its story and screenplay. She described the role as challenging and said she has been working hard to bring the character to life.
“’Farzana’ is my new film, and I have already started working on it. I really like the story and screenplay. The character is very challenging, and I have to work hard to portray it properly. I am hopeful about the film,” she said.
Among those who attended the celebration were former popular film star Omar Sani, actor Abdun Noor Shajal, director Chayanika Chowdhury, and actresses Sushama, Swagata and Snigdha Chowdhury. Fashion designer Pial Hasan was also present.
The occasion also brought an emotional moment when Pori Moni spoke about her late grandfather, whom she affectionately called Nana Bhai. She said his absence remains particularly painful on her birthday.
“I miss my Nana Bhai terribly whenever my birthday comes around. I feel his absence every moment. Since he is no longer here, I no longer cut a birthday cake,” she said.
Pori Moni’s birthday has drawn special attention from fans for more than six years, with the actress introducing a different theme or approach to the celebration each year.
This time, alongside spending time with loved ones, she gave fans another reason to look forward to her next film.
