Uttara University celebrated World Human Resource Day 2026 on 20 May with the UU HR Summit 2026, organizers said in a press statement. Jointly hosted by the Office of External Affairs and the School of Business, in association with the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO) and presented by Guardian Life Insurance Limited, the event brought together around 20 senior HR professionals, talent strategists, and corporate leaders to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in human resources.
The summit was held at the university’s Multipurpose Hall under the theme “Where Future Leaders Meet Industry Icons”. Professor ASM Shahabuddin, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Uttara University, moderated the sessions. Speakers included Professor Dr Musharrof Hossain, Founder President and HR Advisor, icddr,b, along with corporate executives from United Commercial Bank PLC, Mercantile Bank PLC, National Finance Limited, Grameenphone Limited, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited, bKash Limited, and major conglomerates including United Group, Bdjobs.com Ltd, Transcom Distribution Co Ltd, Guardian Life Insurance Limited, BRACNet Limited, Partex Star Group, Cross World Power Ltd, Magpie Group, Texsa Team Group, Lead Nation Academy, E-Zone HRM Limited, Index Accessories Limited, ABA Group, and Ha-Meem Group.
Professor Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Vice Chancellor of Uttara University and chief guest, said in press remarks that the summit was a platform connecting academic learning with corporate practice. “By bringing the country’s top corporate icons to campus, we are creating opportunities for our students to interact with industry leaders, ensuring they graduate ready to lead and innovate in human resources,” she said.
The day-long programme included presentations, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions on sustainability, talent management, governance, and corporate responsibility. Organizers said the summit provided students and youth professionals with exposure to best practices and strategies, emphasizing ethics, innovation, and leadership in HR.
The event highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to bridging academia and industry, creating a platform for future leaders to engage with professionals shaping Bangladesh’s corporate sector, said the press release. Faculty members, officials, students, and distinguished guests attended the summit, which organizers said reinforced the importance of youth participation in shaping sustainable, responsible, and forward-looking organisational cultures.
