Urmi Group has recently received four recognitions at the ESG Excellence Awards 2026, including a Gold Winner honour for Director Shamarukh Fakhruddin in the climate action category.
The Group was named Gold Winner in ‘Excellence in Accessibility & Inclusive Workplace Design’ and also received recognition in ‘Excellence in Gender Equity & Women Leadership Advancement’ and ‘Excellence in ESG & Sustainability Reporting,’ said a press release on Sunday.
The awards were presented by Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo at a ceremony attended by the ambassadors of Sweden, Denmark and the European Union, along with Dhaka Stock Exchange Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar.
The awards were received by Urmi Group Chairman Ashfaque Ahmed, joined by General Managers Biplob Barua and Md Shahnewaz Khan, and Head of Sustainability ABM Faqrul Alam.
Urmi Group Managing Director Asif Ashraf said the recognitions reflect the group’s collective commitment to building an inclusive workplace, advancing gender equity, strengthening sustainability reporting and responding to climate challenges.
The ESG Excellence Awards 2026 was organised by the ESG Institute in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact.
