Upay, the mobile financial service (MFS) brand of UCB Fintech Company Limited, has signed a partnership agreement with UCSI University Bangladesh Campus to expand digital payment services in the higher education sector and develop a cashless smart campus.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at Banani Club in Dhaka, with UCSI University Bangladesh Chairman and Managing Director Ariful Bari Mojumder and Upay Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shyamal B Das signing the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations, said in a press release.
Under the partnership, Upay’s QR-based merchant payment system will be introduced across the university campus, allowing students to make fast, secure and cashless payments at cafeterias, bookstores, retail outlets and other authorised merchants.
Students will also be able to pay tuition fees and receive scholarship payments directly through Upay’s platform.
The two organisations will also introduce RFID-enabled smart student identity cards to simplify student identification and improve access to campus services.
The smart cards are expected to make campus facilities more efficient, secure and convenient for students.
Senior officials from both institutions attended the agreement signing ceremony.
The initiative is part of efforts by Upay and UCSI University Bangladesh to accelerate digital transformation in the education sector by integrating financial services into everyday campus activities.
