Additional Inspector General of Police Khondker Rafiqul Islam has said police are not certain whether Faisal, accused of killing Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, has fled to India.
He said police have no information about Faisal’s latest whereabouts and that law enforcement agencies and intelligence units are working to determine his location.
Khondker Rafiqul Islam made the remarks on Sunday evening at an emergency press conference at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He said no evidence has so far been found linking any political party to the killing, although the investigation is continuing to uncover the facts.
At the press conference, Detective Branch chief Shafiqul Islam said criminals often do not provide accurate information about their whereabouts and that misleading information about suspects’ locations is frequently circulated.
He said operations to arrest the killer are ongoing and that 10 people have been arrested so far, adding that all individuals whose names have emerged in connection with the killing are under surveillance.
