United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has signed an agreement with Faridpur Pourosova to digitise municipal revenue collection, enabling citizens to make payments through secure and convenient digital channels, according to a press release said. The initiative was announced in Dhaka on 6 July 2026 as part of efforts to modernise public service delivery and improve transparency.
Under the agreement, UCB will provide banking and digital payment infrastructure to facilitate the collection of municipal revenues including holding tax, trade licence fees, water bills, building plan approval charges, municipal market rents, birth and death registration fees, and other service-related charges.
Once implemented, residents of Faridpur Pourosova will be able to make municipal payments through UCB’s banking network and digital platforms, reducing reliance on manual processes while improving speed, security and convenience. The system is also expected to enhance efficiency and transparency in municipal revenue collection, the bank said.
The agreement was signed by Md Iliasur Rahman, Administrator of Faridpur Pourosova, and Shahbaj Talat, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Transaction Banking at UCB, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
Md Iliasur Rahman said the initiative will modernise municipal revenue collection, making payments more convenient for citizens while improving efficiency and transparency in public service delivery.
Shahbaj Talat said the agreement reflects UCB’s continued commitment to supporting digital public services through secure, efficient and transparent payment solutions for both government institutions and citizens.
