United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has concluded a month-long Entrepreneurship Development Training Program in Ashulia aimed at supporting aspiring entrepreneurs under a government-backed skills development initiative.
The programme was organised by UCB under the “Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP)”, implemented by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and support from Bangladesh Bank. The closing ceremony was recently held in Ashulia, said in a press release.
A total of 25 aspiring entrepreneurs successfully completed the training programme, which was designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills and support business development opportunities in Bangladesh’s small and medium-sized enterprise sector.
Mohammad Wasim, Joint Director of the SME Special Programmes Department (SMESPD) of Bangladesh Bank and Deputy Programme Director of SICIP, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest.
Md Ridwanul Hoque, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Distributions & Strategy at UCB, attended the event as special guest alongside other senior officials of the bank.
The ceremony was presided over by Mohammad Salim Chowdhury, Head of SME and Agri Banking Division of UCB.
According to the press release, the organisers expect the knowledge and skills gained through the programme to help participants establish and expand their businesses, contributing to the development of Bangladesh’s SME sector.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts under SICIP to strengthen industry competitiveness, promote innovation and enhance entrepreneurial capacity through targeted training and skills development programmes.
