Two additional leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party have joined Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus as part of the delegation headed to the United Nations General Assembly on Sunday.
They are Naqib ur Rahman Tarek, spokesperson of Jamaat-e-Islami USA and son of Jamaat’s former Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami, and Tasnim Jara, joint convener of the NCP.
Jamaat’s Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair and NCP’s Joint Member Secretary (Office) Salehuddin Sifat have confirmed this information to Times of Bangladesh.
Separate sources from the two parties stated that since the delegation includes two leaders from BNP, the government requested two representatives each from Jamaat and the NCP. However, due to difficulties in completing the visa process within the stipulated time, the NCP proposed the name of Tasnim Jara, who already had a US visa. Accordingly, she will join the delegation along with the chief adviser on Sunday.
Additionally, Naqib ur Rahman is already in the United States, so Jamaat did not face visa complications regarding him. He will join the Bangladeshi delegation in New York.
The chief adviser will depart Dhaka for the United States on Sunday night.
As previously announced, others accompanying him include BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Acting Chairman of BNP Humayun Kabir, Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossain.
