Bangladesh has reported two more deaths of children with symptoms consistent with measles in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Saturday, taking the combined toll of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 731.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the latest fatalities have been classified as suspected measles deaths.
With the new figures, suspected measles deaths have risen to 638, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remain unchanged at 93.
During the same reporting period, 732 new suspected measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of suspected infections nationwide to 104,693.
In addition, 101 new laboratory-confirmed cases were reported, taking the cumulative number of confirmed infections to 12,526.
DGHS data further shows that since March 15, a total of 87,966 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country, of whom 84,218 have recovered.
