Two more people have died from dengue in the past 24 hours, while 391 new patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease across Bangladesh, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room confirmed the figures in its regular dengue update issued on Wednesday.
Since January 1 this year, dengue has claimed 30 lives across the country, while the total number of hospitalised patients has reached 9,370.
Of the total patients, 8,460 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, while 880 are currently undergoing treatment at public and private healthcare facilities.
Dhaka division reported the highest number of new admissions in the past 24 hours, with 160 patients hospitalised. Both deaths recorded during the period also occurred in the division.
So far this year, Dhaka division has reported 3,379 dengue cases and 15 deaths.
Among other divisions, Barishal recorded 2,375 hospital admissions and two deaths, Khulna 1,238 admissions and three deaths, Chattogram 1,624 admissions and four deaths, Mymensingh 312 admissions and five deaths, and Rajshahi 311 admissions and one death.
Rangpur and Sylhet divisions reported 51 and 80 hospital admissions respectively, with no deaths recorded in either division.
In Dhaka city, 96 new patients were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours. Of them, 71 were admitted to government and autonomous hospitals, while 25 were admitted to private clinics and hospitals.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital admitted seven new dengue patients during the period, taking its total number of admitted patients to 422, with five deaths recorded so far.
Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital reported 34 new admissions, bringing its total number of patients to 370, with two deaths.
Mugda Medical College Hospital admitted 15 new patients, with its total number of dengue patients reaching 418 and two deaths recorded.
Since January, Dhaka city has reported 2,236 dengue cases and 14 deaths.
According to the DGHS analysis by age and gender, men accounted for 56 per cent of new infections in the past 24 hours, while women made up 44 per cent.
However, women account for a higher share of deaths this year. Of the 30 dengue deaths recorded so far, 17 were women (56.7 per cent) and 13 were men (43.3 per cent).
Among the two deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period, one was a girl aged between zero and five years, while the other was a man aged between 46 and 50 years.
The DGHS data showed that areas outside city corporations recorded 7,126 dengue cases and 16 deaths, while city corporation areas reported 2,235 cases and 14 deaths.
Monthly data showed a sharp rise in dengue infections in recent weeks. In June, 2,907 cases and 13 deaths were recorded, while the first 15 days of July alone saw 3,266 cases and 12 deaths.
Health authorities said the latest figures indicate a significant upward trend in dengue infections across the country.
