Telephone Shilpa Sangstha and EDOTCO Bangladesh are launching a repair and refurbishment centre dedicated to critical network power components.
The initiative aims to boost reliability in the country’s telecom infrastructure and reduce dependence on imported equipment.
According to a press release, the facility will focus on restoring and upgrading key power modules used in telecom sites across the country.
Officials said the centre is expected to improve network uptime, cut operating costs and build a skilled technical workforce to support the sector’s expanding infrastructure needs.
The project was formally announced after the two organisations signed an agreement on Thursday at the meeting room of the Posts and Telecommunications Division.
TSS Managing Director Manwar Hossein Malla and EDOTCO Bangladesh Managing Director Sunil Issac signed the agreement.
Speaking as chief guest, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said the initiative marks a vital shift towards self-reliance in telecom support systems.
He said the centre will help reduce import burden and could eventually create opportunities for local battery cell manufacturing, saving foreign currency and opening new technological possibilities.
Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, who chaired the ceremony, said the collaboration reflects the government’s commitment to modernising the telecom support ecosystem.
He said combining TSS’s industrial capacity with EDOTCO’s global expertise will create a strong partnership benefiting the telecom sector and other technology-driven industries.
Senior officials of the division and representatives from both organisations attended the ceremony.
