US President Donald Trump warned that Iran could be “taken out in one night,” possibly as soon as Tuesday — the deadline he set for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
He declined to say whether the war is easing, describing the moment as a “critical period” dependent on Iran’s actions, CNN reports.
Trump repeated threats to strike bridges and power plants, arguing Iranians would be “willing to suffer” if it ultimately secured their freedom. Tehran countered that such attacks would have consequences far beyond the region.
Earlier in the day, Trump called a 45 day ceasefire proposal drafted by several countries a “significant step” but “not good enough.” Iranian state media reported that Tehran rejected the plan, insisting on a permanent end to the war.
