Janhvi Kapoor put Bengal’s centuries-old Dhakai muslin tradition in the international spotlight with a custom sari at the Business of Fashion event in Paris.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the actor wore an ivory creation by Pankaj S Heritage that blended traditional weaving with contemporary luxury. The sari used 460-count yarn and drew on delicate muslin traditions associated with baft-e-hawa, shabnami and chandni.
Topaz, emerald, garnet, pearls and gold beads adorned the fabric, with intricate detailing running from the shoulder to the arm and giving the ensemble a jewellery-like finish.
Kapoor’s appearance came after she was named among the 500 most influential figures in global fashion. The 2026 list featured 100 emerging names across eight categories.
Two other Indian personalities, models Bhavita Mandhva and Pritisha Swaroop, also made the list. Mandhva is a Chanel brand ambassador, while Swaroop is a Global Ambassador for Operation Smile and founder of Ayurvedic beauty brand Prakti.
