Dan Levy has revealed he once considered a sequel to ‘Schitt’s Creek’ but that idea ended with the death of Catherine O’Hara.
Speaking to CBS News Sunday Morning outside the show’s filming location in Goodwood, Ontario, Levy said there is no Schitt’s Creek without O’Hara, who passed away on January 30 at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer as an underlying cause.
The Emmy-winning actor and producer said revisiting the town was an emotional experience. “It’s tough being back. I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction,” he admitted.
Levy reflected fondly on his memories with O’Hara, calling her “an incredible clip reel” and praising her knack for humour that transcended the internet.
O’Hara played the eccentric Moira Rose, mother of Levy’s character David, throughout the show’s six seasons. Schitt’s Creek, created by Dan and Eugene Levy, won nine Emmys and followed the Rose family as they adjusted to life in a small town after losing their fortune.
In a tribute following her death, Levy said, “Catherine was extended family before she ever played the role of my family. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her. My heart goes out to her family.”
