Transcom Group CEO Simin Rahman and her mother Shahnaz Rahman surrendered before a Dhaka court on Wednesday and secured bail in a case over the alleged misappropriation of 14,160 company shares through forged signatures and fake stamps.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana granted them bail after a hearing, court sources said.

Earlier in the day, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah took cognisance of the chargesheet in the case against six accused.

As Simin Rahman and her mother Shahnaz Rahman were absent at that stage, the court issued arrest warrants against them, along with Transcom Group director Samsuzzaman Patwary.

Following the issuance of the warrants, Simin Rahman and Shahnaz Rahman later appeared before the court and sought bail, which was granted after hearing their submissions.

The case involves allegations of fraudulently seizing 14,160 shares of Transcom Group by using forged signatures and counterfeit stamps.

Besides Simeen Rahman, the court issued warrants against Shahnaz Rahman, wife of late Transcom Group founder Latifur Rahman, and Transcom Group director Samsuzzaman Patwary.

Court officials said that three other accused—Transcom Group directors Md Kamrul Hasan, Md Mosaddek and Abu Yusuf Md Siddique—appeared before the court during the hearing.

Their lawyers filed petitions seeking permanent bail, which the court granted.

As Simeen Rahman and the two other accused failed to appear, the court ordered arrest warrants against them and fixed 2 February for the submission of a report on the execution of the warrants and further proceedings.

The case stems from an investigation conducted by the Police Bureau of Investigation.

On 11 January, PBI Inspector Syed Sajedur Rahman submitted the chargesheet to the court, naming six people, including Simeen Rahman, as accused in connection with the alleged share fraud involving the Transcom Group.
