Top terrorist Mobarak Hossain alias David Emon has been placed on a 10-day remand in two separate cases filed with Fatikchhari Police Station in Chattogram.
Judge Md Motasim Billah of Chattogram Judicial Magistrate Court‑3 passed the order around 12pm Sunday. Around 11am, Emon was produced before the court amid tight security.
The court granted five days’ each, totaling 10 days’ remand.
Court sources said police had sought 14 days’ remand — seven days each — for the top terrorist and his associates in murder and arms cases.
In addition, Judge Md Lokman Hakim of Judicial Magistrate Court‑2 in Chattogram ordered the authorities to show him arrested in another case filed with Hathazari Police Station.
David Emon is considered a notorious figure in Chattogram’s criminal world, facing multiple serious charges including murder, arms possession and extortion.
He recently came into focus for allegedly demanding Tk2 crore and Tk10 lakh monthly extortion from an internet businessman. He has also been linked to the 2025 double murder in Baklia and the killing of criminal Akbar in Patenga.
After being on the run for a long time, police arrested him recently at the Jashore border along with three associates and a large cache of weapons.
He was brought to Chattogram the following day and produced before court, which sent him to jail. On Sunday, following the remand hearing, he was taken into police custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) sources said five cases from different police stations under CMP will be submitted to court Monday.
It will also be decided whether he will be shown arrested in the Chawkbazar Police Station case over the attack on Digital Dot Net (DDN). Hearings on these cases may take place Tuesday or the following day.
