Tom Cruise surprised CinemaCon audiences with the first trailer for ‘Digger’, an offbeat new film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, showcasing a dramatic and unconventional on-screen transformation.

Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a wealthy oil magnate whose actions may have triggered an environmental disaster with global consequences. The character appears with a Southern accent, a noticeable beer belly and thinning hair styled into a comb-over, marking a stark departure from Cruise’s usual roles.

In the footage, John Goodman appears as the US president who urges Digger to resolve the crisis he has caused, as the story escalates into political and environmental chaos. The trailer also features large-scale disaster imagery, including collapsing ice caps and military tensions.

The film carries a reported production budget of around $125 million and is part of Warner Bros’ slate of major upcoming releases.
