Actress Iffat Ara Tithi has approached law enforcement authorities after receiving a wave of online abuse and threats in the aftermath of the recent controversy surrounding actor Zaher Alvi and the death of his wife Afra Ibnath Khan Iqra.
The actress confirmed that she has lodged a General Diary (GD) at a local police station, reporting incidents of cyberbullying, harassment and threats directed at her through social media platforms.
According to Tithi, the complaint also addresses the circulation of manipulated images created using artificial intelligence and what she described as defamatory campaigns targeting both her and her family.
Tithi said the situation escalated in recent days, with numerous threatening messages appearing online. Among them, she alleged, were serious threats of violence. She also claimed that personal phone conversations had been shared publicly without her consent.
The actress further stated that her residential address had been circulated on social media, which she believes poses a significant security risk for her and her family members. She has submitted relevant evidence to law enforcement authorities and requested appropriate action against those responsible.
While expressing confidence in the country’s legal system, Tithi emphasised that any allegations against her should be addressed through proper judicial procedures rather than public attacks on digital platforms. She also warned that she may pursue further legal measures if the online harassment continues.
The actress has urged authorities to take action against individuals involved in spreading threats, misinformation and defamatory content online.
