Three more deaths related to measles have been reported in the last 24 hours till 8am on Tuesday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the three fatalities, one death was from a confirmed measles case, while the other two were suspected cases.
DGHS data mentioned that a total of 1,159 new suspected cases and 188 confirmed cases were also reported during 24 hours period.
Since 15 March, a total of 25,935 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide, with 3,805 confirmed through laboratory tests.
As of the latest update, 17,085 individuals have been hospitalised, while 14,106 have recovered and been discharged. Public health experts have expressed concern over the rising death toll, which now stands at 38 confirmed deaths and 185 suspected deaths related to measles.
The highest number of cases and deaths have been reported in Dhaka Division, where 2,512 confirmed cases have been recorded and 24 people have died from the disease.
In response to the ongoing outbreak, the government has ramped up efforts under the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026. As of now, 2.65 crore individuals have been vaccinated, covering approximately 95 percent of the target population.
Vaccination rates in city corporation areas are even higher, with an average coverage rate of 98 percent. In cities such as Cumilla and Mymensingh, vaccination figures have surpassed initial targets.
The DGHS has urged the public to remain alert and ensure that children receive their vaccines on time, stressing that timely vaccination is key to controlling the spread of measles.
