The measles outbreak in Bangladesh remains critical with three more deaths from suspected measles recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 8am on Saturday.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room confirmed these figures in a press release issued on Saturday.
According to the latest data, 915 new suspected measles cases and 117 lab-confirmed cases were identified across the country in the last 24 hours. While three suspected deaths were reported primarily in the Dhaka division and district, no new lab-confirmed deaths occurred during this period.
Between 15 March and 6 June 2026, the total number of suspected measles cases in Bangladesh has risen to 77,791, with 9,620 of those cases confirmed via laboratory testing.
During this same period, the cumulative death toll for suspected measles has reached 522, while the number of deaths confirmed specifically as measles through testing stands at 91.
In terms of hospital care, a total of 63,134 patients with suspected symptoms have been hospitalised since mid-March, of whom 58,964 have been discharged following recovery.
Dhaka continues to report the highest infection and mortality rates in the country. In the last 24 hours, the division recorded 432 suspected and 90 confirmed cases, alongside two suspected deaths.
Since 15 March, Dhaka has seen a total of 36,415 suspected cases, with 216 suspected deaths and 55 lab-confirmed deaths.
In Chattogram, 148 suspected and 19 confirmed cases were identified in the last 24 hours. The division has recorded a total of 12,827 suspected cases and 10 lab-confirmed deaths since the start of the outbreak.
Barisal division reported 105 suspected and five confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, with its cumulative lab-confirmed death toll standing at 273.
Sylhet division recorded 77 suspected cases, three confirmed cases, and one suspected death in the same 24-hour period. It has seen 3,958 suspected cases and three confirmed deaths to date.
In Rajshahi, there are 37 suspected cases in the last 24 hours, with an overall tally of 6,790 cases and two lab-confirmed deaths. Khulna has 53 suspected cases in the last 24 hours, bringing its total to 5,718 cases, with no confirmed measles deaths recorded.
In the last 24 hours, 53 new suspected cases have been identified in Mymensingh, while 10 new suspected cases have been identified in Rangpur.
