Another victim of the gas explosion caused by accumulated gas in the kitchen of a house in Chattogram’s Halishahar has died, raising the death toll from the incident to six. Doctors have stated that the condition of the remaining three injured is also critical.
Shipon Hossain (30) died while undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka around 5:30pm on Saturday. With this, all three brothers from the family have died one by one.
Earlier, on Tuesday night, Md Sakhawat Hossain (46) and Ashura Akhtar Pakhi (35) had died. On the same day at noon, Samir Ahmed Sumon (40) passed away. On Monday, Shaon (16) died while undergoing treatment, and Nurjahan Akhtar Rani (40) died in Cumilla while being taken to Dhaka.
The gas explosion occurred early Monday morning on the third floor of Halima Manzil, a six-story building adjacent to the AC Mosque in H Block, Halishahar, Chattogram city.
Currently, those still undergoing treatment are Md Sakhawat Hossain’s daughter Umme Ayman Snigdha (10), and Samir Ahmed Sumon’s daughter Ayesha (4) and son Farhan Ahmed Anas (6).
