Police have arrested three accused in connection with a case filed over the killing of Lamia in Madaripur.
Law enforcers made the arrests around 2:30am on Tuesday. The detainees are Lamia’s father‑in‑law Khokon Bepari, 50, and sisters‑in‑law Rinki Begum, 25, and Lima, 28. They were picked up from the house of relatives of Lamia’s in‑laws in Rampal, Bagerhat.
Following a family dispute on 13 July, Lamia allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison at Khokon Bepari’s house in Hasnakanndi village of Rajoir upazila.
She was admitted to a private clinic in Dhaka, where she died the following day.
Lamia’s mother, Nasima Begum, later filed a murder case with Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station against five individuals.
Police said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects.
