Police detained a teenage student after he allegedly raped a third-grade girl in Chatmohar, Pabna, on Friday.
The incident occurred in Parshoadanga village around 5:30pm, after which the victim’s father filed a case, said Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa.
OC Mostafa said the accused was detained, shown arrested in the case, and sent to jail on Saturday.
According to the case statement, the girl was playing near her home when the accused lured her to a nearby garden and raped her. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot, but the accused had already fled.
Relatives later took the victim to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex. Police said the accused is a ninth-grade student at a local high school.
Kaniz Fatema, medical officer at the health complex, confirmed injuries on the victim’s body. She has since been referred to Pabna General Hospital for advanced treatment.
