Police have recovered the two severed legs of an unidentified woman from a canal in the capital’s Adabar Area No. 10 on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, police retrieved her head, two hands, and other body parts from the same canal, though her legs were missing at the time. However, the identity of the deceased woman has not yet been established.
According to local residents, a black backpack had been lying unattended for a long time on the canal bank adjacent to Balur Math in Adabar No. 10.
At around 4:30pm on Saturday, curious locals pulled the bag from amongst the garbage, whereupon a hand and subsequently a head rolled out.
Locals immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene, conducted a search of the canal, and recovered two additional body parts.
On Sunday afternoon, police returned to the canal upon receiving further information and retrieved the missing severed legs packed inside a sack.
Confirming the recovery, Adabar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Islam said police recovered two detached legs inside a sack from the Adabar No. 10 canal on Sunday after receiving information.
He mentioned that the woman’s head, hands, and body parts had been found the previous day.
The OC added that no General Diary (GD) regarding any missing woman has been lodged with Adabar Police Station so far. He said law enforcement authorities are trying to uncover the mystery surrounding the incident as soon as possible.
